Single-edged chisel

Double-edged chisel

The blade of a chisel is in V shape. Hold a chisel like a Chinese brush; the ring and little finger will support the hold by resting on the side of a carving stone. A stone is carved to that the characters are either in intaglio against a solid background or in relief against a background which has ben removed. Place the blade at stoke boundary ar right end, and push the chisel steadily to the left. (You are supposed to be right-handed.) Turn the stone block 180 degree, and cut the opposite boundary the same way. Finish by cutting the ends. Test print on a strip of rice paper. Remove unwanted stone to let image emerge.
