Smooth Creases on Rice Paper

Mishandling of rice paper can cause creases.

One of special features of rice paper is that the crumpling and folding will not harm the paper. For ink painting artists, the creases will not hinder the brush movement and the painting can be flattened by a mounting master.

However, if the creases are not desired in craft projects, a warm iron can flatten them. Chinese used to put a pot filled with hot water over the paper to smooth it out.

How To

1. Set the iron to medium hot.
2. Lay rice paper on an iron board and move the iron towards the edge of paper with little pressure.
   
   NEVER dampen rice paper when use iron. Moisture causes wrinkles!
   NEVER set the iron too hot. High temperature will burn the paper!
