This paper is made of bamboo branches. A well-known publisher Mao Jin of the 17th century used to choose this paper for his books. Because each stack of freshly-made paper was stamped with his name on the side, this paper was called “Mao's side”. Today elementary students use this paper in calligraphy class for its low cost. This rice paper also attracts artists by its antique character in color.
